The mission of The Flute Market is to serve the student and professional flutist alike by providing top quality customer service in buying, selling, and consigning all levels of used flutes, piccolos, and head joints.

Ann Hughes founded The Flute Market after noticing a huge demand that flutists of all levels, not just professionals, had in needing a legitimate and trustworthy place to buy, sell, and consign used flutes, piccolos, and head joints in playable condition. She also saw that beginning and novice flutists did not have a convenient place to find good, sound information and advice regarding buying, selling, or consigning flutes and flute-related items. To accomplish these two goals, Ann created The Flute Market. Ann began selling flutes in 2005, but she did not decide to convert her talents into a full-fledged business until 2008.

The Flute Market's headquarters are located near the edge of the scenic Pocono Mountains in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. It is centrally located between Philadelphia and New York City.
